Systems Change

MCBW has been working closely with the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program at the Minnesota Supreme Court, including meeting with GAL Regional Managers and advocates from the MCBW GAL workgroup to discuss domestic violence training needs for GALs. That group has continued to meet and is currently developing a training outline for a six-hour domestic violence training that will be provided to GALs who will be working in family court and who have already completed their initial training.

MCBW has also provided some training to GALs who are going through their initial training in the Second Judicial District.

MCBW is a partner with the Minnesota Network on Abuse in Later Life and a team representing St. Paul law enforcement, prosecutors, and advocates to develop and implement training for law enforcement officers and prosecutors on domestic and sexual abuse in later life.

MCBW has been working with the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board to assist in the implementation of new domestic violence training requirements for law enforcement officers; the Minnesota state courts to identify and resolve issues with the state court data system (MNCIS) and with new requirements for no contact orders;and with the Secretary of State’s Safe at Home
Program
to develop resource materials and provide training for advocates on the new address confidentiality program.
