Domestic Violence 101

This training is tailored for new advocates and is designed to lay the philosophical framework and foundation of knowledge you will need to be an effective advocate.

Training components for this session include:

· The herstory of the battered women’s movement
· Defining domestic violence, battering, and “child witnessing”
· Providing effective advocacy
· Orders for Protection and Harassment Restraining Orders
· Tips for working with the legal system
· Cultural competency and understanding white privilege
· Panel discussion “Coming out of the Violence”

Rochester- LaQuinta Inns & Suites

Training Fees and Deadline:

$50 per person for MCBW members and $100 for non-members who register on or before March 13, 2010.

$80 per person for MCBW members and $130 for non-members who register between March 13 and March 17, 2010.


The fee covers both days, including lunch.

The final day to register is March 17, 2010 - Registration is limited to 40 participants.
