MOAPPP 17th Annual Conference
A special invitation for those working in Sexual Violence Prevention...MN Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention and Parenting (MOAPPP) is holding its 17th Annual Conference, Broadening our Perspective, Refining Our Appraoch, at the Earle Brown Heritage Center, Brooklyn Center.
The MOAPPP conference offers two days of dynamic speakers, challenging workshops, and multiple opportunities to network with Minnesota professionals committed to teen pregnancy prevention and support for pregnant and parenting teens. There are a number of workshops focused specifically on the relationship between sexual violence and teen pregnancy, as well as a variety of workshops closely related to the work you do. Research has shown that young women and men who experience sexual violence are more likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy. This conference is an opportunity for us to come together, as professionals, to see how we can work together to support youth in our community.
Keynote address will be Breaking Out of the Man Box: Shifting Cultural Norms to Create a More Just Society, Tony Porter, A Call to Men, Valley Stream, NY. Tony Porter is an educator, activist and community leader working in the field of social justice for over twenty years. Mr. Porter is one of the founding members of A Call to Men Committed to Ending Violence Against Women.
Workshops include:
- Become Part of the Solution: Moving from Understanding to Action, Tony Porter
- Wakanheza Project: Creating Welcoming Environments for Young Families, Grit Youngquiest and Darleen Simmons, Ramsey County Department of Health.
