The Women of Color and Native Women’s Leadership Council invites women of Color and Native women from MCBW member programs to:

2010 Statewide WOCNW Conference
September 23rd – 24th, 2010
Radisson Hotel Roseville

Purpose and Goals of the Conference:

• To provide Women of Color and Native Women with the resources necessary to acquire advanced leadership skills
• To reduce isolation through networking opportunities across cultural lines as well as to honor the cultures within our own communities
• To facilitate cross cultural respect and create allies within the battered women’s movement and mainstream society by encouraging intercultural communications, skill building and understandings
• To advocate for policies that reduce barriers for women of color and their families seeking services within culturally specific communities
• To grow the influence of Women of Color and Native Women in their communities and statewide

What to expect from the conference:

Thursday
• Discussions on Advocacy in Diverse Populations, Intercultural Education, Six Core Values of Advocacy
• Networking and relationship building opportunities
• Facilitated Dialogue – Building our capacity to speak the truth and get heard
• Indentify needed leadership skills for WOCNW
• Sharing stories of wisdom, hope, and inspirations

Friday
• Accessing your personal power and inner voice, new rules for making change, attracting mentors, leaders, and supporters
• Government relations and effective public policy
• Facilitated Dialogue – Next steps for making a difference together

The conference is free and lunch is provided at no cost to participants and is limited to 60 participants.  Advance registration is required.
