Position: Resource and Technical Assistance Specialist
Organization: National Network to End Domestic Violence
The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) seeks a highly motivated and high performing Resource and Technical Assistance Specialist to work with the Coalition Capacity team.  This is a great opportunity for a committed team player to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.  NNEDV provides training, technical assistance, and support to state domestic violence coalitions; local domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking programs and transitional housing programs.  The position is based in Washington, D.C., and will require regular travel, up to 50% of the time. 

Responsibilities
•    Analyze and respond to membership technical assistance requests via phone, email, site visits, webinars, and facilitate peer to peer learning, mentoring and support.
•    Develop culturally appropriate resources and training materials regarding specialized issues affecting survivors of domestic violence.  This includes but is not limited to prevention of violence, the intersection of HIV/AIDs and domestic violence, trauma informed and voluntary services, and the impact of domestic violence on children.
•    Assist in the development and execution of events, including NNEDV’s Annual Roundtable, regional membership meetings and “training of trainers.” Includes coordinating the selection of and communicating with presenters, meeting facilitation and/or presentation, site selection, and coordination with funders.
•    Work closely with other NNEDV teams to ensure that programmatic and policy efforts are integrated and responsive to the needs of membership and other constituents.
•    Manage project grants and deliverables, including compiling and writing grant reports.
•    Serve as primary contact for NNEDV’s efforts to enhance membership benefits.
•    Identify emerging issues and trends in the field of domestic violence and develop innovative training and technical assistance solutions and resources.
•    Participate in and assist with other organizational-wide activities and events as needed.

Required Skills/Education/Qualifications

•    Extensive experience working in the fields of domestic violence/sexual violence/stalking, and knowledge of the domestic and sexual violence service provider community including state coalitions, local programs, community-based organizations serving marginalized communities and national technical assistance providers.  Experience working with or at a state coalition is preferred.
•    Commitment to NNEDV’s mission
•    Strong advocacy skills and a feminist/egalitarian, survivor-centered philosophy. 
•    Outstanding public speaking skills and at least five years’ experience providing training.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a team, as part of an organization, and with other organizations and other professionals; treats all people with dignity and a respectful attitude; accepts, acts upon, and offers constructive criticism; and approaches situations with a sense of humor.

A position of Senior Policy Analyst is currently available in the Family Violence and Domestic Relations (FVDR) program. This position requires previous experience in responding to the co-occurrence of domestic violence and child maltreatment, domestic violence policy, and practice advocacy in the child protection system. The minimum requirements for this position include:
•    A degree from an accredited four-year college or university
•    At least five years’ experience in providing providing child protection or child welfare services, domestic violence, or juvenile/family law-related field
•    Demonstrated understanding of policy development processes in relation to the co-occurrence of domestic violence of domestic violence and child maltreatment, domestic violence, and child welfare fields
•    Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and process-oriented environment as well as work independently to initiate, organize, and follow tasks to completion
•    The ability to work cooperatively with staff, partner organizations, child welfare agencies, domestic violence advocacy groups, the judiciary, and FVDR advisory committees and groups
•    Demonstrated ability to write grants and complete grant requirements in a timely manner
•    Familiarity with budget management
This position has a strong emphasis on critical thinking, analytical ability, writing policy briefs and papers, providing in-depth technical assistance and training on the co-occurrence of domestic violence and child maltreatment and related submit matter, and working collaboratively with partners and system representatives. Applicants must have strong organizational skills with both a broad vision and attention to detail, comprehensive computer skills, and a willingness and ability to travel nationwide. Position Location:  Coordinator’s Office is in Mankato, MN.  Some travel throughout service area is required.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for providing advocacy, crisis intervention, support, information and access to resources to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault on the phone as well as within the community.  Program Coordinators also provide advocacy for victims of severe domestic assault and sexual assault at law enforcement centers and hospitals in the CADA service area during the evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays on a rotation. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  During your work hours you may be required to write, talk, hear, see, operate a computer keyboard, clean, lift/move items, and occasionally transport victims served.

MAJOR TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1.)    Coordinates and provides crisis intervention, support and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

A.    Promote survivor healing.  Consider the victim/survivor and their unique needs and abilities first.  Listen generously with patience, belief, and compassion. 
B.    Assist victims in clarifying problems; providing information, identifying and exploring solutions, and promoting self-advocacy.
C.    Coordinate and collaborate across the community and systems in the victim's best interest.
D.    Ensure victim safety, confidentiality, and respect.
E.    Hold self and others accountable to high standards of service.
F.    Coordinates necessary transportation for victims, and/or children.

discussion groups, support groups, and educational meetings.
C.    Provide individual and class advocacy with social services, mental
health and criminal justice systems on behalf of victims/survivors of domestic violence. 

4.)    Ensures Organizational Accountability

Futures Without Violence is a dynamic national organization committed to ending violence against women and children. We seek a creative, energetic individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team as the lead policy staff person on a national initiative to prevent violence and improve the health and education outcomes for children exposed to trauma and violence.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Policy Director for Children and Youth will lead advocacy, legislative and policy analysis, coalition-building and policy research to advance a signature initiative on children exposed to violence and trauma  S/he will focus on promoting policies that strengthen the response of schools and other youth serving systems to recognize and address the needs of children who have been exposed to violence and trauma, and increase prevention programs, front end services and coordination of services for children in need. The person will be expected to:
 
•    Build and lead a strong organizational advocacy coalition to move policy and public awareness around affects of trauma and violence on children’s healthy development and achievement and the best practices for helping children heal from violence;
 
•    Analyze and draft legislation related to preventing violence against women and children and intervening early with children exposed to violence and trauma, focusing initially on the education setting;
 
•    Plan and execute high level public and policy-maker education events;
 
•    Compose, edit and produce reports, white papers and other written materials;
 
•    Work with communications and programmatic staff to increase public support for innovative prevention and early intervention programs;

•    Work closely with other organizations and coalitions to affect public policy related to children exposed to violence and abuse;
 
•    Assist states, tribes and local communities affiliated with a federal demonstration project on implementing cutting edge prevention and intervention programs that help children and youth exposed to violence.
 
Experience and Skills:
A college degree is required and a graduate degree or JD is preferred.  Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be able to work independently, and have at least 5 years experience working in policy advocacy or on Capitol Hill. Work in or with federal agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Education or Department of Justice may substitute for a portion of the Hill experience. Knowledge of federal funding streams and policies that can be used to support children and their families is required. Experience with education, health and juvenile justice partnerships will prove particularly helpful.  A commitment to ending violence against women and children is essential.
